Mild air masses ensure spring weather in Germany.
But things won't be this mild in March for the time being.
A weather expert speaks of a “cold shock”.
Kassel – The weather is currently “exceptionally mild” in Germany, the German Weather Service (DWD) noted.
Despite the rain and clouds, the coming days in February are also expected to be truly spring-like - temperatures of up to 19 degrees are possible in Breisgau.
“It continues to be unusually mild for the current time of year,” explained meteorologist Dominik Jung from

.
In view of this, the pollen count begins even earlier.
Forecast for March: DWD expects a change in the weather
At the end of February there will be a change in the weather.
According to the DWD, temperatures could be “slightly colder than before”.
This will be accompanied by light rainfall in many places.
There could even be another frost in the nights.
The mild temperatures are unlikely to return at the meteorological start of spring on March 1st.
February could be warmer than March this year, explained weather expert Jung.
This would mean “a March winter is not that unlikely”.
According to the DWD, this refers to a late onset of winter in Central Europe, usually around the middle of the month.
Cold polar air then creates wintry temperatures again.
Frost could even lead to delayed development in agriculture.
“Cold shock” is imminent: weather experts expect March winter
The average temperature for February is currently 6.6 degrees.
The average temperature in March from 1991 to 2020 is only 4.6 degrees.
Given the mild temperature, February would be slightly warmer than March.
Jung speaks of a real “cold shock”.

According to forecasts, March would be 0.5 to 1 degree warmer than the climate average in large parts of the country, but the first month of spring would probably be even colder than February.
In addition, March could be drier than usual in the north and northwest according to Jung.
As
daswetter.com
reported, long-term forecasts would predict a rather average March.
It could still be wintry, especially in the first half, before it gets milder towards April.
The 100-year calendar also gives a forecast for spring 2024.
