There will be no fenced-in dog park in Moosinning - nor in any other part of the community.

The local council decided this.

Moosinning – A woman from Moosinning had submitted a corresponding application, explained Christian Weigand from the building authority.

In her opinion, there are more and more dog owners in Moosinning.

She would therefore find it sensible to designate a fenced area as a dog meadow.

Weigand reported that this topic had already been discussed in the building committee.

The majority of members spoke out against a dog meadow, but wanted to clarify how much the dog tax would have to be increased in order to be able to designate such a meadow.

Fittingly, an article was published shortly afterwards in the local newspaper about a dog park in the city of Erding.

“The costs including fencing amount to 30,000 euros for the investment and 5,400 euros for ongoing maintenance,” explained Weigand.

“If you take these costs for the municipality of Moosinning and add the property costs to them, the investment costs come to 71,000 euros, plus the annual operating costs.” If you look at a ten-year period, including operating costs, the total would be around 125 000 euros total costs.

“If you distribute these among the 313 registered dogs, this results in an annual increase in the dog tax of 34.94 euros,” Weigand explained in conclusion.

This request had already been made to him in Eichenried, said Werner Fleischer (BE).

“If we do that in Moosinning, then people also want it in Eichenried, Kempfing, Stammham and so on,” emphasized the deputy mayor, who spoke out against a dog meadow: “We have enough opportunities for the dogs to have their own Manfred Lex (CSU) also stated that he would not agree to the proposal “because we don’t have the money”.

And Josef Romir (SPD) said that he had seen dog parks in Vienna and said: “In a big city it might make sense, but not here.” So the application was unanimously rejected.
