The prince couple, guards and elf council gave their all once again at the final spurt of the carnival in Penzberg.

Now the foolish times are over.

On Tuesday evening at the sweep, the symbolic town hall key was returned to Mayor Stefan Korpan.

Prince Anton I's carnival conclusion: “One more week would go.”

Penzberg – The hot carnival phase ran for 32 days, from the coronation ball in January to Shrove Tuesday, just four and a half weeks.

It was a short, but correspondingly intense carnival that required stamina on the short distance.

On Tuesday, the Prince Couple, Guard and Elferrat traditionally stopped off at the Penzberg town hall on their farewell tour.

“It was a really great carnival”

Prince Anton I, the timpanist from the Wooden Palace, whose real name is Anton Pöttinger, estimates there may have been 20 to 25 performances in the past few weeks.

Actually, it worked, but the last few days were tiring, he says.

There was “little sleep”.

During the week, before the Gaudiwurm, the car was built in the construction yard until late in the evening and before the theme ball, rehearsals took place until midnight.

But, says Princess Raffaela I, the lion tamer, whose real name is Raffaela Mares, it was a “great time”.

When she's around, it'll be a strange feeling, she says one day before Ash Wednesday.

“It was a really great carnival,” agrees Anton Pöttinger.

And: “It would take another week.”

The highlights: coronation ball and Gaudiwurm

What was the highlight of the carnival for you personally?

The coronation ball, answers Raffaela Mares - because it was the first appearance in front of a large audience.

Her partner Anton Pöttinger – they are also a couple in real life – is called the Gaudiwurm.

He already liked him when he was on the Elferrat.

As a royal couple it was once again a special experience: on top of the car, looking at a few thousand people in a good mood.

“It was gigantic what you did,” said Mayor Stefan Korpan, praising the carnival people during their visit to the town hall on Tuesday, dressed in a gold-colored jacket, which he commented with the words: “Someone said I should have it melted down , then there will be a little money in the city coffers again.” Speaking of politics: What remains of the royal couple’s inaugural speech at the “1001 Nights” coronation ball?

Perhaps converting the “Piorama” family pool into a hammam?

Anton Pöttinger answers that he would think it would be good if there were actually fewer cars in Penzberg.

“But we won’t be able to do that with flying carpets.”

“There won’t be much recovery”

How have you kept fit over the past few weeks?

“Actually through dancing, you stay fit because of the movement,” he says.

But the carnival troupe hasn't been immune from one or two colds.

He himself was caught at the theme ball.

And now relaxation, maybe a vacation?

That's not in it.

Anton Pöttinger is a teacher at the Montessori school.

Raffaela Mares works as an educator in the “lion group” at the Spatzennest daycare center.

Both have four children.

“There won’t be much in the way of relaxation,” says Pöttinger with a smile.

But maybe a visit to a thermal spa is enough – “with beer infusion”.
