One theft too many.
Two individuals aged 39 and 48 were arrested on Friday February 9 in Feyzin, in the southern suburbs of Lyon, as they were preparing to unload their loot in a garage, indicates the Rhône national police.
They barely had time to put away the two stolen motorcycles in the Ain department when the police came upon them.
It must be said that the duo had been followed for several weeks, following repeated thefts of two wheels in this neighboring department of the Lyon metropolitan area.
Residing in the Rhône and Isère, they retreated towards the Feyzin box after their misdeeds.
Inside the garage, the police discovered, in addition to the two stolen vehicles, a license plate printer.
Enough to allow two-wheelers to be circulated or even resold without attracting attention.
Detached pieces
The van used for transport also contained numerous wheels and spare parts, as well as a stolen electric bicycle.
Presented to the Lyon public prosecutor's office this Monday, they admitted the majority of the alleged facts.
The two suspects were placed in pre-trial detention pending trial for theft and receiving stolen goods from an organized gang and criminal association.
The stolen vehicles were returned to their owners.
