The residents of Butry-sur-Oise will have to be patient.

Prohibited to traffic since Friday February 8, the main axis of this village should remain closed for some time.

Experts from the departmental council went to the site this Monday to assess the damage.

Three days earlier, the mayor (SE) Claude Noël had to issue a municipal decree to condemn traffic, on the advice of firefighters.

A wall approximately two meters high and especially the roadway threaten to collapse.

Cracks that appeared some time ago seem to be widening.

“At the moment, we don’t know what’s going on,” admits the councilor.

It's a set of things.

The most important thing is to have done things on time.

We got organized straight away.

Quarries and cellars under the road

This Monday, Claude Noël served as guide to a delegation from the departmental council (rue de Parmain is a departmental road) led by Anthony Arciero, departmental councilor responsible for roads.

“We carried out soil studies to find out the exact cause,” explains the latter.

It is very constrained, with numerous underground quarries and cellars under the road.

Between the cellar and the roadway, there is approximately 2.50 m.

We might think that there are fragile areas.

» At the same time, an emergency inspection of the sanitation network was requested.

Experts from the department went to rue de Parmain accompanied by Anthony Arciero, departmental councilor responsible for roads, and the mayor, Claude Noël.

The road has been closed since Friday February 8, because the roadway and a wall are in danger of collapsing.

After the diagnosis will come the time for repairs.

“All this deserves to be consolidated,” explains the elected official.

Three years ago, work was done on another part of this road.

Since then, it has held up.

» According to him, the axis should remain closed “fifteen days, three weeks, at least”.

“There are a little less than 3,000 vehicles passing per day, which is not many, and a diversion on a parallel road has been put in place,” specifies Anthony Arciero.

The villagers prefer to take things philosophically.

“We don’t have much choice anyway,” says a street resident.

Afterwards, we must hope that this will change things for traffic.

» For many local residents, the deterioration of the road has worsened due to the traffic of heavy goods vehicles, which use the road regularly, in particular to avoid traffic jams on the nearby N 184.

“It is normally prohibited for people over 19 tonnes, but this is not respected,” explained one of the local residents on Saturday.

We would like this to be limited to 5.5 tonnes.

This is really not compatible with the configuration of the place.

» In the meantime, the barriers marking the traffic ban have been moved a few meters, to facilitate access to the two businesses on the street.
