A death overshadows the carnival weekend.
A woman died in an accident on her way home from a party.
The police are investigating.
Sonneberg – The police searched for the 43-year-old in Sonneberg (Thuringia) with a large contingent.
She hadn't returned home from a carnival party at a disco.
Relatives reported the woman missing around four o'clock, the police said on Monday (February 12).
In addition to a rescue dog team, police forces from Thuringia and Bavaria as well as the fire department were alerted on Sunday morning, reports the Sonneberg-Mitte volunteer fire department on Facebook.
A drone was also used to search for missing people.
The federal highway B89 was temporarily closed between Sonneberg and the Meilschnitz junction.

After several hours there was the sad certainty.
The missing mother was found around 8:40 a.m. on Sunday.
On the way home from a carnival party, the 43-year-old fell into the Röthen River and drowned, the police suspect.
The path therefore led over a narrow gravel path.

Mother of four falls into river and dies after carnival celebration – autopsy ordered
Because of a brick wall and the speed of the flow, it is difficult to get out of the river, said a spokesman for the state police operations center.
The river had a lot of water at the time of the accident.
According to initial findings, many things point to a tragic accident.
An autopsy has been ordered, police said, to check the investigation and also whether the 43-year-old may have been drunk.
In addition, the police point out in a press release that no further information can be provided about the circumstances “for tactical reasons”.
The Saalfeld criminal police are investigating this case.
A girl (2) from Bingen was found dead from a river before Christmas after a long search.
The public prosecutor was investigating the mother at the time.
The lawyer appealed to the public.
