Terrible accident this Wednesday afternoon in Clichy.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m., an 89-year-old pedestrian had both legs severed, after being mowed down by a heavy goods vehicle near the Clichy bridge.
According to initial findings, the victim was crossing the roadway on a protected passage, at the entrance to the quay, in the direction of Saint-Ouen, when he was hit head-on by a flatbed truck weighing more than 30 tonnes, used to move skips.
“The heavy goods vehicle was stopped at a traffic light,” specifies a police source.
The driver engaged first gear when the light turned green.
He saw the victim clearly but he thought she had finished crossing.

Passed under the truck after being hit, the retiree had both legs severed.
He was taken care of by firefighters and Samu doctors, who spent many minutes extracting the victim from under the truck, before transporting him, with a life-threatening prognosis, to Beaujon hospital, in Clichy.
A hospital where the driver of the truck, in a state of shock, was also admitted to be examined before being taken to the Clichy police station, where he is currently being questioned about the exact circumstances of this dramatic accident.
Alcohol and drug tests were negative.
