A court case reveals a brutal attack in an asylum center in Ebersberg.

A nighttime argument escalates between supposed friends.

Ebersberg

- A one-sided friendship between two Jordanians came to an end on Ash Wednesday at the latest in front of the Ebersberg district court - if it ever existed.

A 20-year-old was in the dock because around a year ago he had abused a fellow countryman with a wooden board and an iron chair in the asylum accommodation in the savings bank building.

The man now testified that it was all a mistake.

And about the victim: “He is a good friend of mine!

We have photos together!” An argument broke out in the three-person room because the defendant’s father, who also lived there, felt disturbed by the light and noise.

Whether it was a prayer or cell phone videos - statements varied.

Hospital findings: Broken forearm, bruise on back

The hospital findings were clear: a large bruise on the back and a broken forearm in the victim (47), which required two operations and still causes pain and restricted mobility to this day.

“How did that happen?” Judge Dieter Kaltbeitzer asked the crucial question.

The defendant replied through his interpreter that he wanted to throw the board to the ground during the argument and accidentally hit his opponent.

And again: “We are friends!”

But the victim saw it completely differently.

Not only did his roommate attack him, but his father also attacked him.

And there were threats and insults before the trial - even on the court grounds: "I'm ashamed to say how he insulted me."

Guilty verdict: “He who hits, sits”

Enough had been said.

Judge Kaltbeitzer agreed with the prosecutor that the statements made by the father, who defended his son, and the defendant were purely protective statements.

He found the man guilty of grievous bodily harm - and also of violating the compulsory insurance law because the 20-year-old had rolled through Munich on an uninsured e-scooter in September.

His young age and his escape from Jordan - his father was involved in a fatal car accident there and was being persecuted by his relatives - earned the defendant a youth sentence.

“If you hit, you sit,” youth court assistant Bernhard Wacht quoted a rule of thumb, which the judge also followed and imposed a week of permanent arrest.

“I thank you,” were the man’s words as he left.

The perpetrators and victims now live in accommodation in Vaterstetten and Grafing.

According to this, a decision has not yet been made regarding the convicted man's asylum application.
