Convinced the jury with a juvenile crime thriller
Elena Neubert was able to convince the four-person jury with her contribution from the young adult crime novel “There were only two left” by Mel Wallis de Vries.
This consisted of the head of the city library, Melanie Sappl, Annika Fritze from the Rupprecht bookstore, Annika Heiß, winner of the 2023 reading competition, and the librarian Gabriela Freudenthal.
Trembling to victory
The twelve-year-old winner is a passionate reader of crime novels.
“I hardly read anything else,” she says.
She was very nervous while reading.
“I was shaking.” But that didn’t affect her reading skills and she mastered the task confidently.
Now she can show her skills at the district competition.
For their achievement, all participating children received a certificate and a youth book as additional reading material.
