Enaon, the Greek subsidiary of Italgas which took on the new name today, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Habio, the Hellenic Association of biogas producers which today represents the managers of 48 production plants, to accelerate the development of biomethane, in harmony with the objectives of the EU and the Greek government.
The agreement was signed by Barbara Morgante, CEO of Enaon and by the president of Habio Alexander Yfantis during the ceremony for the presentation of the new name of the former Depa Infrastructure and for the inauguration of the new headquarters in Athens.
The agreement, which lasts two years, focuses on various chapters.
These include the development of regulatory proposals, the definition of network connection parameters, the determination of costs for the expansion and connection of plants, the promotion of sustainable biomass collection and the use of the residual 'digestate' from treatment as a fertilizer.
A collaboration which according to Italgas "promises to be strategic" as biomethane is "a renewable gas which represents an energy source that reduces dependence on foreign supplies and improves energy security".
Biomethane "also contributes to the circular economy and the sustainable development of rural areas, generating positive impacts on local communities".
