Here is the ephemeris for February 15.

This date is marked by the birth of the future king of France Louis XV in 1710. Louis XV is the third son of Louis, Duke of Burgundy and Marie-Adélaïde of Savoy.

He acceded to the throne at the age of five, after the death of his great-grandfather Louis XIV, and remained there until his death in 1774. But it was not until 1743 that the king governed alone , on the death of Cardinal Fleury.

Louis XV is often described as a king oscillating between periods of greatness and moments of weakness, notably due to economic difficulties, scandals at court and diplomatic and military challenges.

His reign saw the emergence of important figures such as Madame de Pompadour, Montesquieu and the philosopher Voltaire.

Louis XV was judged harshly: unloved, considered a poor monarch, debauched.

He is today rehabilitated by historians, who judge his results to be positive and paint another picture of his personality.

Who is Saint Claude?

He died on February 15, 1682 in Paray-le-Monial, Saône-et-Loire and was canonized by the Catholic Church in 1992 by Pope John Paul II.

On February 15, we also celebrate Claudette, Claudine, Georia...
