Without the intervention of firefighters, the fire would most likely have spread to the village hall.
During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, around 3 a.m., a fire broke out in a municipal building adjoining the multipurpose hall in Guigneville-sur-Essonne, a small town of less than 1,000 inhabitants located to the east of the department.
Although the fire did not cause any casualties, it did, however, seriously disrupt RER D traffic which passes below this Wednesday morning.
“The fire broke out in a 60 m² building which housed at least two vehicles,” said a firefighter.
He was brought under control using two water hoses, one of which was on a ladder.
» During the intervention which mobilized around thirty firefighters, a section of the wall of this building which overlooks the RER D tracks collapsed.
The building demolished for security reasons
As a result, traffic was interrupted between Malesherbes and Corbeil-Essonnes until 10 a.m., and significantly slowed down between Corbeil and Juvisy-sur-Orge.
It was only able to partially resume at the beginning of the afternoon.
“We received reinforcement from firefighters from the rescue, support and research unit (Usar), continues the firefighter.
They have specific knowledge, they are the ones who intervene when sites threaten to collapse.
