Malmö – Artificial intelligence scares many people who work in creative professions.
Marie Wegener (22) wants to use the innovation instead to secure her ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden.
She is in the preliminary round “Una voce por San Marino 2024” (in German: One vote for San Marino 2024) and is one of the last four candidates who all want to go to the ESC.

Marie Wegener is familiar with casting shows.
After all, she won “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” in 2018 when she was just 16 years old, with a record-breaking lead.
A full 64 percent of all caller votes went to her, the remaining votes were shared by three other candidates.
Their first album “Königlich” entered the charts at number 7.
Now she wants to try her luck on the international stage and sing for San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest.
However, her song “Dare to Dream” was not written by her, but was created by an artificial intelligence.

, Wegener took part in a songwriting camp in London in January, where real artists, songwriters and producers worked on a total of ten AI songs and gave them the finishing touches.

The semi-finals of “Una voce per San Marino” will take place on February 15th and 16th, with the final on Saturday, February 24th.

Other candidates include the British actress and singer Dana Gillespie (74) with her song “The Last Polar Bear”, the also British singer-songwriter Meg Birch (28) with her song “Neon Rain” and the British-Colombian singer Nicole Silva her song “Corazón de mariposa”.

Marie Wegener, who now performs under the stage name Mary Lane and sings in English, has to prevail against her in the San Marino preliminary round.
The small state of San Marino has only made it into the top 10 at the ESC once.
Maybe the exceptional German talent Marie can change that.
