The environmentalist MP Sandrine Rousseau, known for her feminist fight, believes in the magazine Elle to have been betrayed “fundamentally” by Gérard Miller.
The famous psychoanalyst and columnist is accused by several women of rape and sexual assault, which he denies.
It is the same Elle magazine which revealed these accusations.
Committed to the left with La France insoumise (LFI), Gérard Miller also politically supported the environmentalist MP, notably during the primary campaign for the presidential election in 2021. Asked to know if she felt betrayed, Sandrine Rousseau responds in an interview: “Absolutely, totally, fundamentally”.
She explains that she is “used to these men who come to buy feminist credibility by showing off with me”.
After reading the Elle articles on the affair, she says she asked herself: “What will women think of having seen Gérard Miller appear with me?
I apologize to them, even if I knew nothing.”
“We are not proud to have this at home”
The MP, who was especially friends with Gérard Miller's daughter, Coralie, had only reacted until now with a tweet of support for the victims, a week after the first revelations on the affair.
She explains that she needed time to “be able to say something that has weight.
(…) It’s a time to be able to absorb the shock and put down the words that allow us to move forward.”
In France, going to watch a TV show, when you are a young woman, is therefore dangerous.

She also notes “amazement” on the part of Nupes elected officials, who reacted little to the matter.
“It’s more difficult when it happens within your political family” and “it’s a somewhat shameful silence too.
We are not proud to have this at home.”
Sandrine Rousseau remarks that “on this issue of violence against women and sexism”, she does not have “many people on whom to count”.
“I’m very alone,” she said.
“It’s like a kind of rubbish.
There are fewer and fewer people to rely on.
It’s like an island washed away by water.”
While Gérard Miller has greatly highlighted his progressive positions, particularly regarding MeToo and violence against women, she says she “wants to scream” and “to tell him:
You don’t realize the harm you are doing , it's odious!

“If even allies turn out to be potential aggressors or rapists, who can we rely on?
“, she asks, judging that “this is a fight in which we cannot count on any man”.
