Even in Germany's widest-reaching news program, the “Tagesschau”, errors creep in here and there.
This was also the case on Tuesday evening (February 13th).
Hamburg – For more than 70 years, the “Tagesschau” on Erste has been providing information about current world events several times a day.
The main edition at 8:00 p.m. is considered the news program with the widest reach in the country, with several million viewers.
But even this is not immune to mistakes, as Tuesday evening (February 13th) proved once again.
Quietly and secretly: photo glitch at the beginning of the “Tagesschau”
Because right at the beginning of the “Tagesschau” program, the director made a glitch that many ARD viewers may not have even noticed: The first article dealt with the growing right-wing extremism within the Federal Republic and how it can be counteracted.
But the photo shown did not match the subtitle of the article (“Measures against right-wing extremism”).
Instead of an accompanying picture, it showed Palestinian refugees in the war-torn Gaza Strip.
However, this was only discussed in a report that was broadcast later (“Israel is apparently planning tent cities in southern Gaza”), which was then accompanied by the correct photo.
Hardly anyone notices the “Tagesschau” error – ARD fixes the glitch in online editions
This error went uncommented in the “Tagesschau” edition, but it was of course noticed by those responsible at ARD: the glitch was fixed in the programs that were subsequently uploaded to the ARD media library and on YouTube.
Instead of the refugee photo, Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (53) was pictured there.

The error “somehow (…) fits the current situation,” said another user, who classified the text-image scissors as “confusing”.
It's no secret that not everything goes smoothly on Germany's most-watched news program: Ex-speaker Judith Rakers (48) revealed a real series of mishaps in the “Tagesschau”.
