The city of Tegernsee's finances are in good shape: it can afford investments of around 9.7 million euros in 2024 alone without having to incur debt.

However, the cushion will be used up by 2027, the city council said when the financial plan was approved.

Tegernsee - After treasurer Jürgen Mienert had presented the investment program and the financial plan up to 2027 in detail and questions about individual items had been answered, Thomas Mandl (SPD) drew a satisfied conclusion: “If you see what is going on elsewhere, then we have to think about it “Tegernsee can not only afford things that are necessary, but also things that improve the value of the place and make it more beautiful.

“This is a great achievement and the luck of the hardworking,” said Mandl.

What followed was the approval of all council members to the figures, which amount to around ten million euros in 2024 alone, including 9.7 million euros in investments.

The repayment of loans and the annual capital strengthening of the Tegernsee spa and supply companies for the creation of parking spaces (100,000 euros) are part of the financial plan.

This provides for a withdrawal from the reserve of around 8.2 million euros in 2024.

“No loans are necessary this year or in the following years,” announced the treasurer.

However, the reserves will be used up by the end of 2027.

“But that’s what they’re there for,” added Mienert.

Tegernsee financial plan: Redesign of the town hall is also planned

The items at a glance: The city is investing 450,000 euros in the town hall this year.

The redesign of the ground floor for the library and wedding room is the largest chunk at 150,000 euros; the treasurer is planning another 500,000 euros in 2025 for the renovation of the meeting room on the upper floor.

Mayor Johannes Hagn (CSU) answered Florian Kohler's ( BürgerListe ) question as to why this was necessary: The council table was too big, the power grid was not sufficient, and microphones were not available.

New purchases for the fire department (68,000 euros) are covered by state subsidies (146,000 euros).

Further payments for the new fire station are not included in the financial plan and, according to treasurer, will be covered by budget leftovers.

A total of 16.2 million euros is estimated, says Mienert.

The city is planning a total of 150,000 euros this year and 2025 to restore the schoolyard after the fire station is dismantled.

Because the city assumes that the district gymnasium in which refugees are housed will not be available for school sports again so quickly, according to Hagn, considerations are underway for a kind of hall on the foundation of the current fire hall.

This is now being examined by the district office.

250,000 euros have been earmarked for upgrading the Ludwig Thoma Hall.

Various reports on electrical systems, stage technology and fire protection are in progress.

“We have to get the thing working again,” said Hagn, who can imagine everything – “from small to large solutions”.

One of the biggest items is the redesign of the Point.

600,000 euros have been earmarked for this this year.

Road construction will cost just as much, with the section between the fire station and Karl-Theodor-Straße alone budgeted at 340,000 euros.

The report for municipal flash flood risk management in the Tegernsee-Nord area (200,000 euros) is covered by a state subsidy of 150,000 euros.

On the subject of water in general: a good 2.1 million euros flow into the area of water supply.

One million euros are planned annually for the structural concept for the renovation of the Galaun, Neureuth and Riederstein elevated tanks alone, the planning of the emergency power supply and the purchase of emergency generators swallows 605,000 euros, and drilling for groundwater exploration in Langenau and for replacement supply in Kreuth is budgeted for 145,000 euros .

Hagn emphasized the urgency of these measures: “This is critical infrastructure.”

The reforestation of forest areas (100,000 euros) is essential for the city as the largest forest owner, Hagn added to the treasurer's comments.

The redesign of the bed area at Kalterer Platz (60,000 euros), emergency call points for bathing areas or the renewal of the elevator in the guest's house (145,000 euros) are other items, as are the renovation of the inherited residential building at Karl-Theodor-Straße 7 (100 000 euros this year, a further 900,000 euros in subsequent years) and 3.4 million euros for land acquisition.

Because the investment and financial package, for which the city also receives allocations from the state of Bavaria amounting to 77,000 euros annually until 2027, was prepared in the administrative and finance committee, there were no major debates about individual items.
