A new accommodation for refugees is to be built in the former Bösl guesthouse in Emmering.

That raises fears.

Emmering – The neighbors feel ignored and not sufficiently included in the plans.

There will be an information event in Emmering next week at which the project will be explained.

Accommodating refugees is becoming increasingly difficult.

Years ago, the district office had already converted gymnasiums.

Currently, containers and even tents are used as temporary accommodation.

The reason for these emergency solutions: There are simply not enough suitable properties to accommodate refugees.

But exceptions confirm the rule – as is now evident in Emmering.

Some things are still unclear

There, the district office was offered a building for rent that was ideal for accommodating people.

The former Bösl guest house on Dr.-Rank-Straße could soon accommodate refugees, as the district office confirmed when asked.

However, the necessary requirements are still being checked.

However, it is not yet possible to say when the first people will move in and how many there will be.

Fears

The plans raise fears among the neighbors of the planned accommodation.

Residents are particularly concerned about additional noise.

The situation is already precarious, they explain in a letter.

The reason is the many car transporters that deliver vehicles to a nearby company day and night.

The unloading of cars also causes a lot of noise.

In addition, the trains on the railway line are very loud.

A nearby pub also constantly disturbs your peace and quiet.

“As if that wasn’t enough, we are now receiving news that a reception center for refugees is being planned without those responsible ever speaking to us and including us in the decision,” the neighbors wrote in the letter.

They demand access to the district office's analyses.

They also want to be informed about the security concept and other important aspects.

The neighbors feel overwhelmed by the development.

They have also been complaining about high levels of noise pollution from car transporters and the railway line for many years.

Emmering's mayor Stefan Floerecke can understand the residents' concerns.

The people on Dr.-Rank-Straße have been exposed to the strain of truck traffic for many years.

However, the community has no influence on the plans.

Well suited

The guest house is a private property.

The house is generally suitable for accommodating refugees.

“Basically, I think it is better to use existing properties, especially former guest houses, for accommodation than to build container facilities or provide gymnasiums,” said the town hall boss.

He sees the decentralized accommodation of people as an important aspect of ensuring that there are no problems.

There are currently 68 refugees living in Emmering, all of whom live in private properties.

There are no difficulties so far.

“Among other things, because they are not housed centrally and there is a great willingness in our community to support these people.

I would like to mention our asylum helpers group, which has been doing really great work for years,” said the mayor.

The plans will be

explained at an information event on Thursday, February 22nd in the ballroom of the community center.

It starts at 18 o'clock.
