A man was arrested and placed in police custody early Tuesday February 13, suspected of having threatened several people with a knife in the 1st arrondissement of Marseille,

The events occurred on rue Châteauredon, shortly after 9 p.m.
According to a source close to the matter, the police were called to this small pedestrian street to intervene after two calls to the police emergency number at a hookah bar.
The bar's customers had just been threatened by a man dressed in a djellaba and armed with a knife.
The suspect taken into custody
The accused burst into the store, showing off his knife before calling customers
“disbelievers”
and yelling
“Allah akbar”,
according to corroborating police sources.
The man was finally apprehended by the police, overpowered with difficulty but without causing any injuries.
According to a source, this man born in 1994 and known to have a criminal record was taken into police custody, his state of health being deemed compatible with this measure.
The knife used to threaten bar patrons has not been found.
An investigation was opened and entrusted to a department of the local national police district.
