It took him more than a year to reach the Phlegraean coast after leaving from the island of Mallorca, Spain.
A tortuous journey for sure, given that it was completed by a message written by Tillmann, a boy who, when he was only 11 years old, decided to put his short letter in a bottle.
It is surprising that in the era of social media, a boy chose this form (as reported by Il Mattino and Repubblica Napoli), entrusting his thoughts (written in German) to the sea currents.
It was Dario Grande who found the glass casing on the beach of Miseno in Bacoli, who entrusted the translated text and his response to social networks in an attempt to find Tillmann.
Here is part of the translation of the text contained in the bottle: "On this beautiful sunny day, I am sending this message in a bottle on its journey and I am very excited to see who will find it. My name is Tillmann, I am 11 years old and I live in Mallorca. My hobbies are: reading books, playing video games, doing puzzles, building with Legos. Playing basketball, football and swimming are my sports-recreational activities. Among other things, I like to explore nature, flora and fauna and the aquatic world also has my attention."
The social response, which attracted a lot of likes and shares, reads like this: "My name is Dario, I live in Bacoli and we have many interests in common. Your message is the best thing that has happened to me in recent times. Today here it is a gray and rainy day. There is a strong sirocco wind with very high waves. It is true that storms, at times, carry hopeful messages that challenge the sea to reach those seeking answers. Imagine this bottle, with a message to its internal, traveling for months and crossing the entire Tyrrhenian Sea until arriving on the beach of my city, is the most magical and true thing that can exist these days and is itself a message. Which one? You see Tillmann, today everything has become like this immediate and superficial! We no longer look each other in the eye and even feelings are transmitted via social media. Knowing that little dreamers like you are growing up in the world is hope for the future."
Then the promise to send the same message with a bottle.
In the hope that "it will reach a dreamer like us".
