Lawyers representing Stellantis and Ferrari Chairman John Elkann said Wednesday that there were no grounds to a Turin probe into an alleged tax violation triggered by a complaint by his mother Margherita Agnelli regarding late Fiat boss Gianni Agnelli's inheritance.
Margherita Agnelli has presented several law suits against other members of the Agnelli dynasty, including Elkann, two of hissiblings and her late mother Marella, challenging agreementsregarding the inheritance of her father Gianni, Italy's'uncrowned king', who died in 2003 - so far without success .
Elkann's lawyers Paolo Siniscalchi, Federico Cecconi and CarloRe released a joint statement saying the alleged tax violation is "completely non-existent".
They said that Margherita Agnelli "has been persecuting her parents and three of her children for more than 20 years in alljudicial fora, causing a great deal of publicity in the press", adding that the petitions she has filed "have not been upheld in any jurisdiction, be it criminal or civil".
