A 35-year-old Jewish man was stabbed on Monday February 12 in the 14th arrondissement of the capital,
Le Figaro
learned from reliable sources.
The Paris public prosecutor's office opened an investigation for
"attempted murder due to religion"
and entrusted the investigations to the 3rd judicial police district (3rd DPJ).
The victim and his wife were walking rue de la Tombe-Issoire, around 6:30 p.m., when an individual threw himself at him and stabbed him six times in the back.
A witness also reported anti-Semitic comments.
The assailant was tackled to the ground by the victim before fleeing.
The stabbed man was transported by firefighters to hospital without life-threatening injuries.
“The big coat he was wearing fortunately cushioned the blows a little
,” confides a source close to the case.
A childhood friend
The victim told the police that he knew his attacker: he was a childhood friend, also 35 years old, who had been inundating him with malicious calls, anti-Semitic emails and death threats since several years.
He had already filed two complaints against him.
The suspect was arrested by the anti-crime brigade (BAC) at his home, in the 18th arrondissement, on Monday evening.
He was drunk at the time of the incident.
