A survey among Planegger companies is a further building block in the community's climate protection concept.

This has to be finished by October at the latest.

Planegg

– The community of Planegg would like to know from local companies how they feel about climate protection.

A “survey on commitment to climate protection” was sent to around 1,000 addresses.

Companies have until February 28th to answer the 23 questions online.

The survey is a joint project between climate protection manager Jörg Degen and economic development manager Silke Vilgertshofer.

According to Degen, around 40 companies have already taken part.

“Ten percent response would be great,” he says.

The campaign is a further building block on the way to the climate protection concept, “to get more information about what we should focus on,” says Degen.

“Climate protection is important.

It means security for future generations through sustainable action and economic activity.

“This requires entrepreneurial foresight, resource-saving and climate-friendly,” it says at the beginning.

The community's climate protection concept, which is currently being worked on, will become more effective in collaboration with companies.

“We can improve the location factor of climate neutrality and renewable energy supply and strengthen our Planegg business location.” The municipality has set itself the goal of achieving greenhouse gas neutrality by 2024.

Expectations asked at town hall

The question is about the importance of climate protection in the company, for example whether there are targets for its own greenhouse gas emissions or specific sustainability goals.

The community would also like to know which basic measures have already been implemented or planned, citing as an example the conversion of company processes towards a circular economy, but also the use of subsidies for energy saving measures.

The purchase of green electricity, building renovations and photovoltaic systems are also topics, as well as job tickets, job bikes and charging stations for electric cars.

The expectations of the local government are also addressed.

Participants can tick, among other things, whether they really want to make it possible to connect to a district heating supply - Gräfelfing geothermal energy is mentioned as an example - whether they find it important, helpful or not necessary.

Interest in networking and exchange is queried and finally which topic areas would be interesting for a workshop.

Examples include energy management, climate justice, sustainable business and renewable heat and power supply.

The survey is anonymized, but the final questions concern the companies themselves: the number of employees and annual sales at the Planegg location.

“A number of large companies have already responded.

“Climate protection definitely plays a role,” says Degen.

Workshops planned

Degen is planning workshops until the summer holidays, on the one hand with citizens and on the other hand with company representatives.

The participation of the population within the framework of the climate protection concept is a condition of the funding agency.

This is the “Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGmbH”, a federal company and specialized project sponsor for all topics relating to the protection of the environment, nature and climate.

Degen took up the position as climate manager in autumn 2022 with the task of creating a climate protection concept.

It must be finished and checked by October of this year at the latest.

Degen is aiming for submission between April and June.

A rough concept was sent to ZUG at the end of November.

“I'm making progress.

The measures have been checked, now the action plan must be prioritized,” he says.

He has already informed the local council non-publicly.

It will be exciting to see “which measures the mayor and the local council can and want to support”.
