Clear words instead of a cuddly course: CSU member and district master craftsman Martin Reiter criticized, among other things, the German bureaucracy on the political Ash Wednesday in Mauern.

Crafts were at the center of Erich Irlstorfer's (CSU) political Ash Wednesday in Mauern.

There was an offer of cooperation - and a lot of criticism.

Mauern

– The fish was delicious and it was cozy and cramped in the next room of the Wisheu inn in Mauern.

All seats were occupied when CSU Bundestag member Erich Irlstorfer invited people to the political Ash Wednesday.

But the mood wasn't quite so cozy.

Craftsmen and farmers highlighted their concerns for the future.

In his Ash Wednesday speech, Irlstorfer struck a slightly different tone than his CSU leader Markus Söder in Passau two hours earlier.

The Bundestag member from Gammelsdorf verbally shook hands with the traffic light from the opposition: “We want to give the traffic light some help in this difficult time.

The issues are difficult and citizens demand that we have to do something.” He pointed out that the CDU/CSU parliamentary group leaders Merz and Dobrindt had written to the Chancellor.

“I know this letter and there were specific suggestions in it.”

“Our excavators do not run on electricity or water”

Irlstorfer emphasized that it is currently about prosperity (“a product that doesn’t actually exist”) in the country; the goal must be prosperity for everyone.

As an example, he cited the citizen's allowance, which had increased by 24 percent in two years: "Who received such a salary increase?" The MP emphasized that work had to be worth it again, and that people were also needed in the professions "in which you could once find yourself “get your hands dirty or work on Saturdays”.

Words over actions: Erich Irlstorfer explained that he knows “that people expect actions from us.”

Irlstorfer's CSU party friend Martin Reiter came to Mauern as a guest speaker - in his role as district master craftsman and head of the building guild.

He made it clear that the costs for tradesmen were skyrocketing.

“Our excavators do not run on electricity or water,” said Reiter and also criticized other circumstances.

Pensioners, for example, could not live on a pension of 1,400 euros.

Above all, he used the podium to emphasize the position of the crafts: “We pay the most taxes.

The craft industry has more employees than the auto industry, our sacred cow.”

Excessive bureaucracy as a burden

After the two lectures, a lively discussion developed in which the farmer Martin Gandorfer from Kirchamper spoke.

“We are fed up,” was his message.

You have less income and increasing expenses.

Gandorfer complained that “we are currently converting Germany into a biotope.”

He also made it clear that he no longer considered the farming profession to be viable for the future: “If I had known all this four years ago, my advice to my son would have been to do something else professionally.”

The requests to speak from those present were nothing new for Erich Irlstorfer.

The district master craftsman also emphasized several times that the sprawling bureaucracy in the country was becoming more and more of a burden for craft businesses.

Irlstorfer said he knew “that people expect action from us.”
