Will the RPR war take place?
In a forum that
Le Figaro
was able to consult, 77 elected officials from the Provence Alpes-Côte d'Azur region signed the act of (re)birth of the
“RPR Sud”
, at the initiative of the president of the Paca Region, Renaud Muselier, also regional boss of Renaissance after having been a founding member of the UMP and active activist of the historic RPR.
This
“rally for the region”
is supported, according to the text, by
“local elected officials, mayors, activists of all tendencies, from reasonable ecology to the Gaullist right”
, who say they are
“ready to work together in the service of our territory.”
Renaud Muselier thus takes up the principle that he made his own within the regional council, regularly recalling that he was elected in 2021 as part of a plural and large majority bringing together more or less the same sensitivities as those cited in the text.
Among the signatories of this manifesto are the president of the Aix-Marseille Provence metropolis and the Bouches-du-Rhône department Martine Vassal, the mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi and the Renaissance deputies of Var and Bouches-du-Rhône , Yannick Chenevard and Jean-Marc Zulesi.
The RPR Sud aims to be
“a true movement of thought and political action, which brings together elected officials, activists and committed to the service of our territory, in respect of the fundamental values of the French Republic”
according to the text.

Renaud Muselier told Le

.

Local elected officials on the front line
In this manifesto, the signatories claim to be
“at the service of our fellow citizens, with concrete, always concrete, more concrete.”
“Nothing else matters: how we respond to everyday concerns, how we give hope, how we change life for the better by taking into account what our fellow citizens tell us every day,”
proclaim these elected officials .
The
“RPR Sud”
aims to distance itself from national logic to better unite local elected officials.
“The future of French politics depends on those who go the last mile, on those in whom the French still place their trust,”
says the forum.
In this southern region, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, we have this responsibility: with the RPR, let's take our destiny in hand!

argues the former LR and mayor of Forcalquier, David Géhant, one of the signatories of this text.
Overcoming political divisions requires action on the ground.
There is no right or left mayor if the job is done correctly and you meet the expectations of your constituents.”
“More than ever, there is an urgent need to unite, add together and make those who want to defend, promote and advance their territory work together,”
proclaim the signatories.
More than ever, there is an urgent need to build connections in our society rather than destroy, deconstruct and divide.
More than ever, we need to come together around simple values, which resemble us.”
“This is why we are entirely determined to defend the historical, remarkable meaning of this acronym anchored in the history of our country: the RPR, a popular movement, close to the realities on the ground, authentic, warm, and which made no concession to the extreme right
,” adds the manifesto.
Against the RPR of Franck Allisio
It’s hard not to see it as a response to the creation last June of the
“RPR”
by the deputy for Bouches-du-Rhône and leader of the RN in the regional council Franck Allisio.
The parliamentarian and advisor to Marine Le Pen had launched this microparty with the mayor of Marignane to bring together elected officials from the right and the National Rally.
“We are also fighting for the RPR brand,”
confirms Renaud Muselier.
I in no way wanted to leave the RPR brand to the far right.
It's the opposite of what we did with Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy.
I can't believe that the LR let the brand go like that.
We have no right to let this happen.”
