There has been a building permit for several years, but nothing has been built.

The Gasthof Zur Post continues to slumber in deep sleep.

Now the community is looking for ways to put a little pressure on.

Schliersee

- On various occasions in Schliersee the question of the Gasthof Zur Post in the town center comes up - be it from critics of the planned vital resort in Neuhaus ("remove vacancies, instead of building new ones") or when looking for accommodation for refugees.

Nothing has progressed in the empty inn for many years.

And it looks like it will stay that way for a while.

The existing building permit for the renovation has now been extended again.

However, the administration should look for ways to put some pressure on the owner.

The general attitude: “Something has to happen now.”

In the years of vacancy since 2009, there have been several supposed breakthroughs.

When the entrepreneur Franz Kroha bought the house in 2015 and presented renovation plans, many people were looking forward to the eyesore directly on the main road being erased soon.

A bed and breakfast with around 50 double rooms was to be built, run by Eva-Maria Skofitsch, who runs her real estate office and the M1 bistro opposite.

Kroha sold the inn to them late in 2018 because he wanted to concentrate on his residential construction projects.

“I hope that something will happen soon,” said Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer (CSU) at the time.

The hope remained unfulfilled.

Skofitsch thought about changing his plans, then Corona came, and an investment worth millions was understandably out of the question.

The existing building application was extended in 2021, and the committee now had to deal with the new extension.

Reverse parking space replacement?

Although the committee agreed, it expressed clear dissatisfaction with the standstill.

Schnitzenbaumer said: “We can extend it again, but with the note: Something should happen at some point.” Gerhard Waas (Greens) also insisted.

“I want to put additional pressure on it.” The administration should now examine how this can be achieved.

One possibility would be for the municipality to create the conditions to reject a new extension.

The committee raised the possibility that the municipality would try to reverse the parking space fee - the money has already been paid.

The administration will determine more in the next two years.

For Schnitzenbaumer it is clear: a new approval process cannot be in the owner’s interest.”

The owner does not want to comment on the committee's deliberations

Owner Skofitsch had recently become increasingly tight-lipped about the future of the inn.

Two and a half years ago she told our newspaper about thinking about holiday apartments instead of guest rooms.

Last year it was said: “The planning is on hold.” Apparently little has changed.

When asked, Skofitsch did not want to comment on the committee's position.

Incidentally, the inn is not suitable as refugee accommodation.

This fails due to the lack of a second escape route.

The district office was convinced of the (“pathetic”) condition of the inn on site, says Schnitzenbaumer.
