Heavy rains in Southern California caused erosion in a clifftop community, leaving several multimillion-dollar homes looking like they're about to fall off a cliff into the ocean.
A large pile of dirt, sand and rocks sits at the base of the cliff on a beach below the homes at the top of Scenic Drive.
According to local media, authorities assured residents that the situation was under control.
“At this point there are no structures compromised and there does not appear to be any impact on lateral access to the beach,” said Mike Killebrew, city manager.
The collapse of part of the Dana Point cliff followed heavy rains in Southern California earlier this month, which caused landslides and flooding across the region.
In Northern California, three people were killed by falling trees as the storm hit the region, while rain caused devastating flooding in Southern California.
