Uniform at school: launch of fittings on Thursday in Béziers

This is a first in mainland France: as part of the experiment on wearing uniforms at school, middle school and high school, the city of Béziers is offering

“families and students from participating schools

“ discover and try on the uniform”

this Thursday, February 15 at the Palais des Congrès, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The test phase desired by Gabriel Attal, then Minister of National Education, on December 6, will concern 719 primary school children in Béziers.

In a press release, the town hall recalls

“having been the first city in France to want to experiment with school uniforms”

in 2014,

“but at the time, society did not seem ready”.

She also warns that Biterrois absent tomorrow, but wishing to try the new outfits, will have the right to a catch-up session on Wednesday February 21, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As proposed by the current Prime Minister, the outfit was customized at the local level.

As soon as they return from the winter holidays, Monday February 26, students from Mairan, La Chevalière, Roland and Riquet-Renan schools will be in uniform and will be among the first schoolchildren in mainland France to test school uniforms.

Among local authorities, only the city of Puteaux will also launch the process on February 26.

Currently, around 90 establishments have expressed their interest in the experiment, according to a ministerial source, while a final list must be finalized in the coming weeks.
