Kiev had warned: the Black Sea would be a priority for 2024. A new Russian ship was destroyed this Wednesday in Crimea by the Ukrainian army: the
Caesar Kounikov.
“He was in Ukrainian territorial waters, near Alupka, at the time of the attack
,” the military command claimed on Telegram.
It was reportedly destroyed by a naval drone attack.
The Russian Defense Ministry has not yet communicated, but claimed to have shot down six Ukrainian drones
“over the waters of the Black Sea”
during the night.

This landing ship was built in the Gdansk shipyards in 1986, in Poland, then under Soviet occupation.
It had already suffered an attack on March 24, 2022, shortly after the large-scale Russian invasion, in Berdyansk.
Images showed him fleeing with his forecastle full of smoke.
Unusual fact: the Caesar Kounikov was put out of action on the anniversary of the death of the naval officer (February 14, 1943) in whose honor it was named.
