Whole and fried: At Munich Airport, customs officials made an unusual animal discovery in the suitcase of a passenger who had arrived from Africa.
Munich Airport - The most experienced customs officials at Munich Airport must have been amazed.
On Friday, February 9th, they found a whole, roasted animal in a woman's suitcase.
The lady who came from Togo had hidden it in her luggage, but it still came out during the X-ray check.
The animal was a rodent, the exact genus according to customs is “Agutis”.

The meat cannot be imported due to animal health regulations.
It was confiscated and then sent for professional destruction. “We see again and again that travelers want to bring food from abroad that cannot be imported,” said Thomas Meister, press spokesman for the Munich Main Customs Office.
In the wake of the discovery, customs at the airport reminds us of the general regulations: “In principle, bringing meat and milk and products made from them from non-EU countries is prohibited in order to avoid introducing animal diseases into the European Union.

It is not the first time that an animal discovery has come to light upon entry into Munich.
During a baggage check at Munich Airport, officials discovered 16 kilograms of unrefrigerated goat meat in a 36-year-old's suitcase, as well as its skull and exposed intestines.
Another find was “something extraordinary,” wrote the press spokesman for the main customs office some time ago. At Munich airport, investigators stopped a Ghanaian with two freshly fried antelopes in his luggage.
