Due to the weather, ZDF had to reschedule on Wednesday evening (February 7th).

Despite the program change, hardly any viewers tuned in.

Mainz – On Wednesday evening (February 7th) there was chaos on ZDF.

Football fans were actually looking forward to an evening with the DFB Cup game between Saarbrücken and Mönchengladbach.

However, heavy rain made the pitch unplayable and the game had to be postponed.

This meant that ZDF was also forced to reschedule.

The viewer numbers are still surprising.

Crime thriller instead of the DFB quarter-finals: Some ZDF viewers are still tuning in

ZDF, which had already removed “Der Bergdoktor” from its program, had imagined Wednesday evening differently – as did numerous sports fans.

The preliminary reporting on the DFB Cup quarter-finals started at 8:14 p.m.

The kick-off was supposed to take place at 8:45 p.m. and the match was broadcast - but that didn't happen due to the weather.

Instead, a crime thriller was repeated.

As can be seen from the

DWDL numbers center

, there is no enormous drop in ratings despite the program change.

The preliminary reporting on ZDF was seen by 2.94 million people, which means a share of the total audience of 11.3 percent.

However, it was announced there that the football game had to be postponed.

Afterwards, the older crime thriller repeat “Marie Brand and the Fate of Love” was shown instead (first broadcast: October 3, 2018).

With 2.46 million viewers, this achieved a market share of 10.2 percent.

Although the usual dream ratings were not achieved when football broadcasts began, some of the fans seem to have remained loyal to ZDF even without the DFB quarter-finals.

However, it was still not enough for the primetime victory.

ARD got it – also with a crime thriller repeat.

The first showed “Steirerkreuz” again and attracted 4.39 million viewers (rating: 17.3 percent) to the screens.

With younger audiences, however, “TV Total” won.

Among 14 to 49 year olds, ProSieben had 0.85 million viewers, a rating of 15.0 percent.
