It was only two decades after the first tips that Jeffrey Epstein was arrested.

Twelve alleged victims have now filed a lawsuit against the US Federal Police.

New York City – Could the Jeffrey Epstein abuse scandal have been uncovered earlier?

Twelve alleged victims of the US millionaire filed a lawsuit on Wednesday (February 14) against the US Federal Police FBI for inadequate investigations against Epstein.

Its abuse network was exposed in 2019.

As early as 1996, alleged victims had contacted the FBI to get the US Federal Police to investigate the millionaire - without success.

According to the lawsuit: Between 1996 and 2006, the FBI received numerous tips about sexual crimes

The lawsuit against the FBI is based on the fact that between 1996 and 2006 the US Federal Police repeatedly received reports and tips about sexual crimes and human rights violations by Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplices.

However, the federal police did not sufficiently investigate these, according to the twelve plaintiffs.

For example, in 2005, Palm Beach police informed the FBI that a 14-year-old had been brought to Epstein's mansion for sex.

It was only a year later that the federal police initiated an investigation, according to the lawsuit.

According to the accusation, the “gross negligence of the FBI” led to “continued sexual abuse at the hands of Jeffrey Epstein” for the twelve plaintiffs.

Between 2006 and 2008, the investment bank JP Morgan Chase also contacted the federal police with concerns that transactions worth millions of dollars could be related to child prostitution.

Lawsuit against US Federal Police FBI: “Enabled sex trafficking and sexual abuse”

The civil lawsuit should now clarify “the FBI’s role in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring once and for all.”

The alleged Epstein victims are also demanding compensation, the amount of which was initially not quantified.

“For more than two decades, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Jeffrey Epstein enabled the sex trafficking and sexual abuse of numerous children and young women by failing to do the job the American people expected of him,” according to the lawsuit filed with a was filed in New York court.

The FBI also failed to conduct adequate checks when Epstein's office obtained travel documents for girls, it said: "From 2009 to 2019, the FBI was complicit in enabling the ongoing sex trafficking of minors and the rape and sexual abuse of girls and women young women that took place between New York, Palm Beach, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as many other locations.”

Jeffrey Epstein case: lawsuit against FBI follows published list of names

In January 2024, a US court published a list of names in the Epstein case.

The names of up to 175 people appeared on it, including former US Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump.

However, it was emphasized that appearing on the list does not imply misconduct.

The people mentioned only had connections to Epstein and his former lover Ghislaine Maxwell.
