Was that the GLSDB?

The Ukrainian armed forces are circulating a video showing a massive explosion from two suspected Russian rocket launchers.

Kreminna - The Ukrainian armed forces have been under heavy pressure in the Ukraine war for weeks.

Russia's army is making progress on several sectors of the front, especially in Avdiivka in Donbass, the situation for the Ukrainian defenders is becoming increasingly dramatic.

Against the Russian army: Are the Ukrainians now also using the GLSDB bomb?

While there is talk of a shortage of ammunition in both the south and east of the country, a video is currently making the rounds on X (formerly Twitter) that could allegedly show the latest arms delivery to Kiev.

A gigantic detonation can be seen directly on a front line.

The fact that the American

Newsweek,

a reputable news magazine that has excellent contacts with the political circles in Washington, is taking part in the speculation makes the whole scenario much more likely.

At the center of the speculation is the so-called Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb - GLSDB for short.

Ukraine War: Did Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb Cause the Giant Explosion?

Newsweek

wrote about the video of an alleged “epic detonation” of two Russian BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers.

The images appear authentic and not staged.

Furthermore, so-called dragon teeth made of concrete can be seen on the front line a few meters in front.

Moscow had these anti-tank barriers built over many kilometers.

The Ukrainians, on the other hand, do not rely on this tactic, which dates back to the Second World War.

According to open source sources, the massive explosion is said to have occurred near Kreminna in the northeastern Kharkiv region.

The manner of the detonation indicates that new, long-awaited weapons have arrived in Ukraine, writes

Newsweek

.

These are said to be those GLSDB bombs.

The information cannot be independently verified.

Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb: Missiles are fired from Himars

A Pentagon spokesman told the US news magazine that the Defense Department in Washington was delaying the announcement of new weapons capabilities for Kiev "in order to preserve the tactical advantage it offers on the battlefield."

However, the Pentagon has not denied a possible GLSDB delivery.

The GLSDB is a weapon developed in a joint venture between the American company Boeing and the Swedish group Saab Group.

This combines the GBU-39 air-to-ground bomb with the ground-based M26 rocket and can therefore also be fired at ground targets from MLRS or Himars multiple rocket launcher systems.

The rocket assembled in this way is said to have a range of 90 miles, or around 145 kilometers, which cannot be independently verified.

GLSDB bombs for Ukraine?

Republicans block new US military package

The warhead of the rocket, which weighs around 270 kilograms and is 3.9 meters long, is estimated to weigh 93 kilograms.

Whether this could cause such an explosion is speculation.

The hit may also have caused the rockets from the Grad multiple rocket launchers to explode.

If these are actually the GLSDB bombs, this would at least show that weapons deliveries from the USA initiated at the end of 2023 are still working logistically, even if a new military package worth 61 billion US dollars has been rumored by the Republicans in Congress for weeks is blocked.

The resolution recently passed in the Senate, but the aid to Ukraine still needs to be approved by the House of Representatives.
