Sustainability, training, supply chain, supply chain.
Even for the aerospace sector these are some of the watchwords for development, as emerged in two of the events at the A&T Automation & Testing fair in Turin, the conference 'Innovation in aerospace: the choices of large companies and the opportunities for SMEs in the supply chain ' and the meeting 'New opportunities for aerospace and avionics' with the five main Italian districts and excellent SMEs.
"Last year - recalls the president of the Piedmont aerospace district, Fulvia Quagliotti - we held an Innovation Day on training and one on sustainability and we are now organizing one on innovation", central themes also for SMEs which, she underlines, "are having a very large flow from automotive to aerospace sectors".
On the subject of sustainability, Marco Silvano of Avio Aero highlights that "the company is focusing on the sustainability driver, on engines with less consumption and the international CleanAviation project, which saw us as promoters, represents an important challenge for the decarbonisation of the aeronautical sector".
"The aeronautical industry - adds Salvatore Grimaldi of Leonardo aircraft division - is experiencing the transformation of the sector with great excitement and we are in a phase of changed paradigms driven by sustainability", while Walter Cugno of Thales Alenia Space points out that "space technologies are designed to do the most for the very few resources available: water, energy, greenhouses to produce food with hydroponic solutions and light frequencies".
Another central theme, highlighted by the representatives of the aerospace districts, is that of financing, raised in particular by Angelo Vallerani, president of the LombardiaAerospace Cluster.
"In the Pnrr - he says - there is no mention of aeronautics and this is a problem. Fortunately, space has been thought of but the fact that there has not been the same foresight in allocating funds to aeronautics too, for example to accompany the green transition, I see it critically ".
"The funding for aeronautics which does not exist in the Pnrr - concludes Quagliotti - is an extremely important issue".
