Highlights: After five years: Bad Tölz - Wolfratshausen district approves strategy paper for more inclusion. Those affected would have liked more discourse. “I have been waiting for a very long time for not only the existing barriers to be dismantled, but also for new projects in the district and municipalities not to create new ones,” said Ralph Seifert, district commissioner for the disabled. The administration was commissioned in 2018 to develop such an action plan. The strategy aims to bring the demands from the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to life in our district.

After five years, the Bad Tölz - Wolfratshausen district has decided on a strategy paper for more inclusion.

Those affected lack discourse.

District - It took a long time: now, after five years of preparation, the district social committee decided on a strategy paper on inclusion.

Those affected would have liked more discourse.

After five years of preparation: Bad Tölz - Wolfratshausen district approves strategy paper for more inclusion

Two men in particular are campaigning for more inclusion in everyday life in the district: District Commissioner for the Disabled Ralph Seifert and Markus Ertl, spokesman for the board of the working group (AK) for people with disabilities, as those affected, know what they are talking about when, for example, they want barrier-free public transport. Demand stops and pedestrian paths.

Ertl can hardly see anything and Seifert is in a wheelchair himself.

The two are pleased that the district is also promoting “accessibility”.

A strategy paper on inclusion was recently unanimously approved by the Social Committee, which has actually been around for a long time but was left on hold during the corona pandemic.

Deputy District Administrator Klaus Koch (Greens) spoke at the technical committee meeting about a framework in which more inclusion should develop in the coming years.

The administration was commissioned in 2018 to develop such an action plan, “with which the demands from the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities should be brought to life in our district in a very action-oriented manner”.

Strategy paper for more inclusion in the district: No discourse makes AK think about people with disabilities

“Our working group, as the initiator of this inclusion strategy, very much welcomes the fact that the committee has unanimously accepted the present draft and that it will now also be decided on by the district council,” writes Ertl in a statement.

“However, the fact that the draft was accepted by the committee with almost no discussion gives us something to think about.”

Since more participation requires not only political approval but also a change in values in the region, “we would have liked to have had the necessary discourse in the committee.”

The AK still hopes that the areas of action and measures listed in the strategy will be addressed promptly and given the necessary prioritization despite tight budgets.

Decision on strategy paper in the Bad Tölz - Wolfratshausen district: Inclusion begins at a young age

“I have been waiting for a very long time for not only the existing barriers to be dismantled, but also for new projects in the district and municipalities not to create new ones,” said Seifert.

The AK therefore considers it very important to consult the representative for people with disabilities as a representative of public interests in building and land-use planning in the future.

Seifert specifies: “Playgrounds, child and youth care, schools and the transition to the job market should be the focus.”
