A now 36-year-old owes his life to the commitment and quick response of the emergency doctor and fire department.
A year later he visits his rescuers at the fire station.
Munich - It was an emotional moment at fire station 3 on Heimeranstrasse in Munich: David, now 36, was visiting on Wednesday (February 14th).
He owes the emergency services nothing less than his life.
The fact that he meets the firefighters again is thanks to a coincidence, reports the Munich fire department.

David suffered from a pre-existing condition and was waiting for a donor heart
The story begins on February 3, 2023 with an emergency doctor call in Sendling: When the emergency doctor team arrives, David is still responsive - he complains of chest pain.
Then he collapses lifelessly a few minutes later and the emergency doctor and his driver immediately begin resuscitation.
To provide support, they request a fire engine and a turntable ladder to transport the patient to a clinic as quickly as possible.
What the emergency doctors learned during the resuscitation attempt: David suffers from a serious heart disease and is already waiting for a donor heart.
The resuscitation lasts about five minutes - then David's heart starts beating again.
His treating doctors were already waiting in the Munich clinic
Now it was time to waste no time.
As quickly as possible, David was taken to the clinic where he was already known; his treating doctors were already waiting in the shock room.
The operation was now over for the first responders - they continued to talk about the operation and process what had happened for a few days.
A reunion took place in the summer of 2023: The crew of a small alarm vehicle was called to water damage.
David, who lived in the house, recognized his rescuers: “Are you from fire station 3, did you save my life?”

Emotional moments at the Munich fire station: David meets his rescuers
Then, on Wednesday (February 15), the meeting took place.
David visited fire station 3 with his family. He told those present that he received a donor heart two weeks after the emergency and what happened next.
And: How grateful he is to the doctors, nurses and of course the rescue workers who were on site when he collapsed.
He considers his rescuers from the fire department to be his family.
The firefighters received these words with emotion, but also gratitude and pride, according to the fire department's report.
