Essonne: spectacular nighttime fire in a storage warehouse on the edge of the N20

Clearly visible from the N20, an impressive plume of smoke still rose, Thursday February 15 in the morning, above Longjumeau (Essonne).

The evening before, a large fire broke out in a warehouse adjacent to the expressway.

It was around 10 p.m. when the Essonne firefighters were alerted.

The flames then devoured the premises of a storage warehouse of the Home Box company, intended for individuals, very close to the Lidl supermarket.

The fire did not spread to adjacent buildings.

On the other hand, he demolished the storage structure, to the point of causing the roof to collapse.

85 firefighters engaged

In total, more than 4,000 m2 of surface area, where 1,100 individual boxes and storage units were located, were destroyed.

More than 85 firefighters, supported by 6 hoses, were deployed to the scene.

There are still many rescuers this Thursday morning.

Because even if the fire is under control, we must now extinguish the last remaining outbreaks.

The authorities recommend avoiding the sector.

Present on site Wednesday evening, the president of the Essonne departmental council, François Durovray (LR), praised the action of the firefighters.

Police personnel were also present.

An investigation is underway to determine the origin of the disaster, which is unknown at this stage.
