Gendarmes from the Rouen research section dismantled a cannabis trafficking network in Eure, leading to the indictment of nine people, the national gendarmerie announced on Thursday.
“A vast judicial police operation aimed at arresting and taking into custody nine people suspected of being involved in significant drug trafficking”
took place on February 6, mainly in the Louviers sector (Eure), but also in Mesnils-sur-Iton, Acquigny, Bosroumois and Le Manoir, indicates the gendarmerie in a press release.
This operation resulted in the seizure of
“119 kg of cannabis resin, eight handguns, a 22 LR rifle, a large quantity of ammunition mainly of large calibers, more than 18,000 euros in cash, 482 cartons of counterfeit cigarettes, a mini motorcycle, a motor vehicle as well as various luxury items”
, for a retail resale price of the drug of more than 950,000 euros, details the gendarmerie.
10 years of imprisonment incurred

“required the commitment of 90 soldiers from the gendarmerie as well as around ten police officers”
, specifies the gendarmerie.
The eight men and the woman arrested, aged 19 to 38, were indicted.
Six others were placed in pre-trial detention and the other three under judicial supervision.
“Prosecuted for drug trafficking, illicit importation of tobacco in an organized gang, criminal association, illegal possession of category B and C weapons, they face a sentence of 10 years of imprisonment,” adds
the gendarmerie.
