29 French people traveled by bus to the Lenggries carnival procession to take part in the march.

The group had great fun taking part.

Lenggries - Around 1,000 participants and helpers took part in the Lenggries carnival procession on Sunday - including a 29-person delegation from Brittany who paraded through the village dressed as Asterix, Obelix and Roman legionnaires - and clearly had a lot of fun reenacting battle scenes.

The Bretons made costumes, the Lenggriesers took care of the spears

The idea to participate came about in 2016, reports Christelle Kiefersauer-Mercier, chairwoman of the Lenggries-Bretagne partnership association.

At that time, the chairman of the French Brauneck Association, Sébastien Jouan, watched the carnival procession.

His first thought: “Wow, I want to be there too.” No sooner said than done: the Bretons made costumes for themselves, the Lenggriesers took care of the right wagon, signs and spears.

The 29 Bretons and 23 members of the Lenggrieser partnership association marched through the town together.

After three memorable days we return home

The French guests also experienced the surroundings intensively.

13 of them attended the carnival ball for train participants on Friday evening.

On Saturday there was a Leberkas meal.

Bretons and Lenggriesers studied the choreography for the carnival procession.

In the evening we went to the Denkalm, where we celebrated together.

“A great atmosphere, indescribable, you have to experience it,” enthuses Kiefersauer-Mercier.

“There are groups from two countries, but you don't notice any differences, it's one unit.” We went back to the valley by lamplight.

On Sunday there was a white sausage breakfast and a barbecue.

On Monday at 1 p.m. the Bretons got back on the bus after three memorable days, and on Tuesday around 8:30 a.m. they arrived in Brittany.

What Kiefersauer was particularly happy about was: “We weren’t the only ones having fun.

I heard from many spectators that they had fun watching us.”
