The EU Commission has made forecasts for economic growth.

Things are looking bleak for Germany.

Robert Habeck wants new impulses to get Germany's economy going again.

Jena - Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck sees a clear mandate for the federal government in view of the significantly lower economic forecast and wants impulses for the economy.

Growth of 0.2 percent this year is “not satisfactory in any way,” said the Green politician in Jena during a visit to the technology group Jenoptik.

With a view to the weak global economy, Habeck said that not all problems would be solved, but that “homework” would have to be done.

Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) said that with a growth forecast of 0.2 percent, Germany would once again be in the bottom group of developed economic nations.

This is “embarrassing and socially dangerous.”

Habeck said there had to be quick decisions about what the federal government could do.

He called for faster de-bureaucratization and faster placement of people in the job market.

The shortage of skilled workers is a brake on growth.

He receives many inquiries from companies that would like to build a factory in Germany - but they tell him that they need the same conditions as in the USA.

Habeck referred to the state's billions of dollars with which the USA lured companies.

Germany has decided to spend money more restrictively.

“If there are more funds, then there is no one who will be happier than me.”

Habeck had brought a billion-dollar, debt-financed special fund into play to finance tax relief for companies - but the FDP rejects this.
