A couple of rural producers from 25 de Mayo, in Misiones, were surprised in their home by criminals who beat them fiercely and escaped with about
two million pesos in cash
.
The Police arrested a suspect after he spent more than
70,000 pesos on alcoholic beverages
and when they raided the house they seized 140,000 pesos, which are believed to be part of what was stolen.
The robbery occurred at dawn on Saturday in an area known as “El Laurel”, which is located on the Uruguay River.
The victims, a 72-year-old man and his wife, also 72, heard strange noises and got up to see what was happening.
As soon as they opened a door they were attacked by two men who
began to beat them while forcing them to return inside the house

With the situation under control, the thieves continued hitting them to make them say where they had hidden the

The beatings and torture to get them to hand over the money lasted more than an hour because the assailants were not satisfied with the

The couple almost miraculously survived the beating.
The viciousness with which they acted was captured in the report of the doctors at the SAMIC Hospital in Oberá, where the couple remains hospitalized recovering from the blows and fractures.

The man suffered numerous blows to the face and head, a two-centimetre cut on his left ear and severe head trauma that caused him to lose consciousness.
His wife, meanwhile, was also hospitalized with blows, a skull fracture, multiple fractures in the right frontoparietal area and two cutting wounds.
He was also admitted with loss of consciousness.
The investigation took off on Saturday morning.
A son of the couple, who lives in an adjacent farm, almost a kilometer away,
decided to visit them because he found it strange that they did not respond to his messages
or answer his insistent calls.
As soon as he entered the house, he found a big mess and the couple lying on the floor, with very serious injuries.
She immediately took them to the 25 de Mayo Hospital, where the doctors performed the first cures on them and referred them to Oberá, for more complex care.
The detainee had spent $70,000 on alcohol.
The 25 de Mayo Police Station began an investigation and experts collected fingerprints in the couple's house.
A few days later the agents obtained key information: a man who resides in another neighborhood had spent
exorbitantly on alcoholic beverages
despite his limited economic conditions.
With a search warrant from an Investigating Judge, the Police entered his house, in a rural area known as “Paraje Primavera”, where the suspect was detained.
Another 140,000 pesos in cash
were found in his possession
and some clothes that he could have worn that night were also seized.
The comparison of the suspect's fingerprints with those that were taken in the house will be key to confirming that he is one of the violent assailants of the “El laurel” farmers.
This Thursday, the Secretariat for Access to Justice and Human Rights of the Superior Court of Justice assisted the victims with an interdisciplinary team, who continue to slowly recover at the SAMIC Hospital in Oberá.
