The P-Seminar Sculpture at the Geretsried High School was honored by the Ministry of Culture for its project “Isartaler Frauenbilder”.

Geretsried

– Applause for the Geretsried high school – or better said for the P-Seminar in Sculpture.

Das received an award from the Ministry of Culture for his project “Isartaler Weibsbilder”.

The students made over 40 models

“We never thought that our seminar would be so popular,” the two participants Moni and Anna agree.

Together with their fellow participants in the P-Seminar, all of whom were high school graduates this year, they and art teacher Matthias Wohlgenannt artistically implemented female figures from the “Weibsbilder-Calendar” of the Wolfratshausen Historical Association.

As reported, the calendar contains biographies of 52 women who have shaped the history of Wolfratshausen.

The aim was to honor women who have something to do with the regional history of the district.

Based on these biographies, the high school students first created drawings and then over 40 small models made of cardboard, wire, wood and other materials, three of which they then made in metal and in life size.

The young men and women had previously had little contact with crafts

The students spent a lot of time in the workshop of the Degerndorf blacksmith Tom Carstens.

Sawing, grinding, polishing, cutting – all of this became a matter of course for the young women and men, most of whom had hardly had any contact with the craft until then.

But the time in the workshop definitely made a difference.

“I thought it was a good way to try things out and you could see whether you like something more hands-on than studying, for example,” reports Anna.

And Moni also raves: “It was cool to get this insight.

The owners of the blacksmith shop were open and friendly, and everyone worked together on each figure.” The winding woman, which consists of many strands, was particularly a challenge.

“Each of the metal rods had to be heated individually,” say the young people.

High school students independently instructed elementary school students

The seminar also included instructing elementary school students in Waldram in creating another sculpture.

“I really liked working independently with the children in primary school,” says Maja.

Seminar leader Matthias Wohlgenannt praises the good networking between the schools.

Overall, the high school students agree that they have grown greatly from the new challenges that the seminar brought them.

And school principal Sabine Apprecht also says: “Something like this is completely different from everyday school life, but very valuable.” She is full of praise for this “optimal result” of her protégés and calls them “a great figurehead” for the school.

The figures created in the seminar are in the garden of the Flößerei guesthouse in Wolfratshausen.

P-Seminar is a flagship for vocational training

“It is always exciting and impressive to see the creative ideas and implementations that our students come up with together with their teachers in the P-Seminar,” Education Minister Anna Stolz is quoted as saying in a statement from the ministry.

“I am also impressed by the projects that received awards this year.

All are innovative, well thought out and cleverly implemented.

And above all, they show once again: Our P-seminars are a flagship for vocational training at our high schools.”

The awards ceremony will take place at the end of February

The P-Seminar at Geretsrieder Gymnasium is one of 27 seminars that have received awards throughout Bavaria.

The district award ceremony will take place on February 29th, and on March 11th the Minister of Education, together with representatives of the cooperation partners, will select the four state winners from the 27 regional winners.

The seminar participants are now preparing a ten-minute presentation for the district award ceremony and a film and an interview for the state award ceremony.

“We are already full of anticipation,” beam Moni and Anna.
