The number of companies listed on the Milan Stock Exchange that report sustainability is growing by 15%: 63 compared to 54 in 2022. This is stated by data from the specific Irtop Consulting Observatory, according to which "the data is even more significant if we consider that in 2023 they reported sustainability seven companies of Euronext growth Milan (Egm) which were subsequently subject to takeover bids or translisted on the main market".
The percentage of companies declaring at least two years' non-financial reporting experience also increased (73% compared to 56% in 2022), while the Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) confirmed themselves as the most widely used reporting method.
"According to the analyzes of our observatory, listed companies that report on sustainability represent 31% of the total, for a capitalization of 3 billion euros", comments Anna Lambiase, CEO of Irtop Consulting.
"The growing attention of institutional investors with funds pursuant to art. 8 and art. 9 continues to stimulate small and medium-sized enterprises to report on environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) issues: reporting sustainability places these companies in an advantageous position competitive compared to others and generates virtuous behavior that is reflected on both internal and external stakeholders, who perceive the clear desire to create and maintain value in the short, medium and long term", concludes Lambiase.
