No phone, no internet – and no repairs either.

After Telekom put Karl Kögl (82) off for seven weeks, the Schliersee resident took the initiative himself.

Schliersee

– Karl Kögl’s phone from Fischhausen remained silent for almost seven weeks.

Due to the devastating snowfall at the beginning of December, a branch crashed onto the telephone line and damaged it.

But the pensioner had to wait unsuccessfully for a repair from Telekom.

At the beginning of December, a branch crashed onto the overhead line, which is located on Kögl's neighboring property.

The landline and internet were then broken.

Kögl was able to report the disruption using his cell phone.

“I was in contact with Telekom at least twice every week,” reports Kögl.

He received a text message from Telekom eight times: “Please be patient.” The employees in the call center finally put him off with the information that the line would be repaired in the second week of January.

But the repair could not be carried out because the property where the pipe broke was not accessible.

“There’s just a fence,” explains Kögl.

Some of his neighbors are also affected by the outages.

When asked, the municipality's managing director, Jörn Alkofer, explained that these were only isolated cases.

Repair only took about an hour

Still, a difficult situation for the 82-year-old: “Without a smartphone, I would have no connection to the outside world.” The widower now lives alone and there are no direct neighbors either.

As a board member of the Schliersee neighborhood help group, Kögl knows that many older people rely on landline telephones in emergencies.

Long waiting times are very serious here.

“You get angry.” Kögl has also heard similar cases from acquaintances: his daughter, who lives in Bad Aibling, had to wait four weeks for the repair.

The press query also remained unanswered for weeks

In the meantime, the pensioner has lost patience and even hired a local electrician with his neighbors.

The two-man team repaired the line within just under an hour.

“It would be much easier if Telekom concluded contracts with regional electricians,” suggests Kögl.

His case would have proven that even “normally trained” electricians could repair the lines.

Kögl has not yet informed the provider that the line has been repaired.

“Let’s see how long it lasts.” The pensioner has now received 47 text messages from Telekom saying that the problem will be taken care of.

Even when the editorial team asked twice, there were no answers from Telekom after more than two weeks.
