Parisians present in the 13th arrondissement of Paris should receive an unexpected notification on their cell phones this Thursday morning.
This is a large-scale test of the national alert and information system.
The police headquarters warned in a press release that this device called FR-Alert, already effectively tested in several departments, will be deployed for the first time in the capital.
The message should appear between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
The arrival of the message will be signaled on the devices by an audible signal,
“even if the mobile phone is in silent mode”
, specified the prefecture.
The time of reception may vary slightly depending on the operator and the location where each person is located, outside, metro or within a building.
Those concerned can rest assured: no action is expected from them upon receipt of the message.
The objective is simply, indicates the police, to
“raise awareness”
among the French about the right behavior in the event of
“natural, industrial, terrorist or health” danger.
Two other test dates are planned in Paris, Friday March 22, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the 15th arrondissement, and Tuesday April 23 between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m., in the 17th arrondissement.
