Polish special services said Thursday they had arrested a Ukrainian citizen working for Russian intelligence services.
“Acting within an organized criminal group, on the orders of the
Russian intelligence services ,
”
the man is accused of undertaking
“preparations for diversionary and sabotage actions
,” according to a press release.
Sabotage
According to Warsaw, the man, arrested on January 31,
“was preparing to set fire to buildings in the city of Wroclaw (southwest), near elements of infrastructure of strategic importance”
.
He faces up to 12 years in prison.
The Polish services did not specify his age.
Last year, sixteen foreign nationals from countries located
"beyond the eastern borders"
were accused in Poland of espionage, preparing acts of sabotage and collecting information for the benefit of Russia, notably concerning the transit of weapons to Ukraine.
A faithful ally of kyiv, Poland is also one of the main countries for the transfer of Western arms and munitions to Ukraine.
