Authorities in the city of Ontario, California, increased security measures around a school after a high school student was arrested for allegedly making plans to carry out a shooting on campus.

As part of the medical efforts, more patrols were sent to the school center and nearby areas.

Sebastian Villaseñor, 18, who is a student at Ontario Christian High School, was arrested last Saturday after complaints from another student about the alleged plan, the Ontario Police Department reported.

The student who raised the alert contacted campus authorities, NBC 4 said.

After law enforcement determined that Villaseñor represented a real threat, the young man was detained and a search of his home was carried out, where firearms were discovered, NBC 4 expanded.

Authorities

found seven rifles, two revolvers, a pistol and a shotgun in the young man's house,

Ontario Police Chief Michael Lorenz reported during a press conference this Wednesday, ABC 7 reported.

"During our investigation we learned that Villaseñor was obsessed with school shootings and police response times," Lorenz said, quoted by the channel.

"He researched tactical supplies and

was in the process of choosing a specific date

to carry out the attack."

The police also found 1,000 bullets in the house and stated that during interrogations, Villaseñor confessed that he had a list of five students he wanted to attack, ABC 7 expanded.

The District Attorney's Office indicated that the detainee

faces five counts of attempted murder

and one count of attempted criminal threats.
