Ministers in the government today (Thursday) expressed their opposition to the detailed plan reported in the Washington Post, for long-term peace between Israel and the Palestinians, within the framework of which a Palestinian state would be established.
"The message is that it pays very well to massacre Israeli citizens," said Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
"A Palestinian state is an existential threat to the state of Israel, as was proven on October 7, Kfar Saba will not be Kfar Gaza."
Smotrich added that today at the meeting of the political and security cabinet he will demand a clear and unequivocal decision stating that Israel opposes the establishment of a Palestinian state.
"I expect clear support from Prime Minister Netanyahu, Benny Gantz, Gadi Eisenkot and all the ministers."
Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir expressed a similar position.
"The intention of the United States together with other Arab countries to establish a terrorist state alongside the State of Israel is illusory and part of the wrong conception that the other side has a partner for peace," wrote Ben Gabir in X.
"After October 7, it is clearer than ever that we must not give them a state. When we are in the government, a Palestinian state will not be established."

The opposition also expressed opposition to the plan.
MK Ze'ev Elkin (state camp) also wrote: "It won't happen.
The establishment of a Palestinian state means the establishment of a Hamas state, which will win any election there will be.
This step will bring the risk of a repeat of the events of 07.10 for the entire country.
At the time, no one proposed to the United States following the events of 09/11 to establish an al-Qaeda state along the border with the United States. The Israeli public will not let this happen."

The Biden administration and several countries in the Middle East are rushing to formulate a detailed and comprehensive plan for long-term peace between Israel and the Palestinians - including a clear timetable for the establishment of a Palestinian state - the Washington Post reported.
The plan may be announced in the coming weeks, but it depends on the beginning of a truce and an agreement for the release of hostages, which is currently still far from being finalized.
The organizers of the plan hope that the agreement can be started before Ramadan, which begins on March 10.
According to American and Arab officials, the first phase of the ceasefire, which is expected to last at least six weeks, will provide time to publicize the plan, gather additional support and take the first steps towards its implementation, including the establishment of a Palestinian transitional government.
"The key is the hostage deal," said one of the American officials, who, like the others quoted in the article, discussed the issue anonymously so as not to disrupt the plan before its completion.
