This is a very encouraging sign for Marrakech, a place increasingly coveted by galleries which promote contemporary artists from across the African continent: established for fifteen years in Casablanca, the Loft Art Gallery has just inaugurated a space of 500 m2, in the heart of the Gueliz district.
This white and concrete “white cube” is located right next to the Comptoir des Mines, whose founder, Hicham Daoudi – a 48-year-old native of Rabat who created the first and largest auction house in Morocco – is already defending for almost ten years the local scene.
“Many of our customers were impatient to see us in Marrakech, the city of my heart where I grew up, a place strongly anchored in Morocco with a window open to foreign countries, while in Casablanca, the market is still local. has not fully reached maturity,”
explains the co-founder of the Loft Art Gallery, Yasmine Berrada Sounni, who plans to have 4 to 5 exhibitions there per year.
