Fraunberg – “It is important not to be afraid of fire.
But too much heroism is not right either,” warned Fraunberg’s fire brigade commander Thomas Daschinger.
“The best thing is to just have the courage to fight the fire with the fire extinguisher when the fire is still about the size of a campfire.”
19 educators and childcare workers from the Fraunberger St. Florian Children's Home were given instructive training by an expert on how to extinguish the fire and how to behave correctly when a fire breaks out in order to be well prepared in the event of an emergency.
In the equipment house, the fire brigade commander explained to the children's home staff how to properly use fire extinguishers and used a display board to show that fires are divided into different fire classes (A, B, C, etc.).
During the outdoor practical test, each participant was allowed to try using a fire extinguisher and fire blanket to extinguish the fires prepared by deputy commander Andreas Neumaier and group leader Georg Neumaier (once with wood and a gasoline-diesel mixture) or to smother them with the fire blanket.
After every successful attempt by a child care worker to extinguish the fire, there was applause from her colleagues.
At the end of the exercise, leader Steinbichler thanked the commander with a present.
