Le Figaro Nice
To compensate for the absence of striking SNCF agents this weekend - and other potential ones to come - the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, called on the management of the railway company to mobilize staff today retired.
The Horizons elected official is targeting
“former controllers”
and is even considering
“reservists from the army, police or gendarmerie”
.
From Friday until Sunday, one in two TGVs, one in two Ouigos and one in two Intercités will run, which corresponds to nearly a thousand trains canceled right during the holidays in zones A (Bordeaux, Lyon) and C (Paris, Toulouse).
“Once again, SNCF union organizations are abusing school holidays to organize a strike and take more than a million French people hostage
,” said Christian Estrosi on his Threads account.
The movement will be closely followed in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, from Marseille to the Côte d'Azur.
The rate of strikers should rise to 80% in Nice and nearly 95% in the Marseille city, announced the unions, which are demanding a salary increase.
For the Nice councilor,
“SNCF controllers are not the category of French people most to be pitied”
, he adds, calling on them to
“show responsibility”
.
Renaud Muselier, the president of the region, joined him on the observation and his proposal.
This is not the first time that the Renaissance elected official is outraged by a strike at the SNCF, which each time has a major impact on travelers in the Paca region.

“True reserve”
Behind this social movement, Renaud Muselier sees
“an attack against families and tourism professionals”
.
“The strategy of the worst is unbearable and intolerable
,
”
he wrote
on 'a concrete solution'
.
Christian Estrosi also hoped that the SNCF
would “have a real reserve”
which would include
“trained and paid volunteers, who could be mobilized in the event of a strike to avoid blocking the country”
.
On its website, the railway company specifies that four “
customer service operational centers
” were set up in 2013 and that
“in certain cases, reserve agents can make up for absences”
.
Guest of the TF1 morning show, Éric Ciotti, Nice MP and president of the Republicans, was also outraged by this situation.
The parliamentarian explained the party's desire to
“very clearly establish legislative texts to regulate the right to strike”
.
Alpes-Maritimes senator Philippe Tabarot (LR) had already mentioned last March in our columns a proposed law to strengthen the minimum service.
